This year’s event was packed with exciting highlights. Archie, the Reno Aces mascot, made a special appearance, and local news stations 2 & 8 stopped by to cover the festivities. A crowd favorite? KOLO 8’s Dave Lewis getting “arrested” in our Keystone Kares jail until participants raised $50 for his bail — with some stellar help from our youngest “law enforcement” team!

On the competitive side, our Road to Recovery box car derby team took home first place for the third year in a row. Our baseball-themed car, “Hitting Cancer Out of the Park,” won both design and the home run race, making it another memorable victory for the team!

The touching luminaria ceremony served as a powerful reminder of why we continue to fight. It honored those currently battling cancer and remembered loved ones we have lost, reinforcing the importance of our collective efforts.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Keystone Kares raised $4,567, earning Silver Team status. Even more impressive, the entire event surpassed its goal, raising a combined $50,015 for the American Cancer Society. These funds will provide rides, lodging, and other support for cancer patients and caregivers, help connect families with the best care, and fuel groundbreaking research to find better treatments — and ultimately, cures for cancer.

We are incredibly proud and deeply humbled by the dedication of our Keystone family. Looking ahead, we hope to achieve Gold Team status in 2026 by raising $5,000 or more. It will take the combined effort of the entire team, but we know we “Kare” enough to reach that goal. Team members can already sign up for the Keystone Kares Team for the 2026 Relay for Life of Northern Nevada event.
